ENTROPIA – Szenarien der Energie Festival zu Entropie in Performance und Wissenschaft

Irgendwo steht geschrieben, man müsse nur das Märchen von Hans im Glück begreifen, um die Sache mit der Entropie zu verstehen. Denn jeder Austauschprozess, jede Verwertung von Energie bedeutet gleichzeitig ihre Entwertung – Entropie. Das Festival ENTROPIA fragt im Wissenschaftsjahr 2010 – Die Zukunft der Energie nach den gesellschaftlichen Chancen und ökologischen Konsequenzen energetischer Transformationen. Vom 11. bis zum 14. November präsentieren internationale PerformerInnen und WissenschaftlerInnen ihre Positionen zum Verschwinden, Verschwenden und Verwenden von Energie im Berliner RADIALSYSTEM. Davis Freeman berät in der Performance „Investment“, wie sich ein Lottogewinn nachhaltig verwenden lässt. Mathilde Monnier zeigt die schönen Seiten der Unumkehrbarkeit, wenn ihr Bühnenbild in „Soapéra“ langsam verschwindet. Und die Gruppe Schwalbe verwendet ihre eigene Körperkraft, um Licht und Wärme für ihre Performance CO2-neutral zu produzieren. Die Folgen für unser soziales und politisches Handeln, wenn der Umgang mit Energie stets irreversible Effekte generiert, wird am Samstag den 13.11. im Rahmen einer interdisziplinären Konferenz diskutiert. Die hier versammelten Positionen verorten das Energetische als komplexes System und Herausforderung an der Schnittstelle von Mensch und Technik. Wir folgen der Frage, ob, wenn doch Prozessualität, Chaos und Verschwendung die Arbeitsweise zahlreicher Künstler beschreiben, Darstellen nicht letztendlich Arbeit am Verschwinden ist. Festival for entropy in performance and science in the Science Year 2010 – The Future of Energy.
The catchword “entropy” describes the understanding that the use of energy always entails its dissipation, and that the earth, in spite of its stability, is heading towards its own catastrophic end. From the beginning, this concept has led to fascinating apocalyptic visions ranging from the earth's “heat death” to the cosmos sinking into “chaos”. Today, we have to accept the challenges of entropy and consider them in the light of contemporary issues around our use of energy. Within the Year of Science 2010 “The Future of Energy”, the festival Entropia raises questions about the social opportunities and ecological consequences of energetic transformations. What does it mean for our social and political actions if the exploitation of energy invariably generates irreversible effects? What happens if processuality, chaos, and waste are not seen as threats, but as integral parts of creative productivity? In four days, international artists and scientists will present their views on the disappearance, waste, and exploitation of energetic resources. We are looking forward to welcoming you!
